‘Lavasa Project’, India’s first hill city township project, located 60 km from Pune has been kept on hold because of notice to Lavasa Corporation from environment ministry’s for violating environmental laws. This lake city township is spread across 25,000 acres among the lush green hills, 190 km from Mumbai and 65 Km from Pune.
Township project started in 2002. This was first lake city project with luxurious apartments with all possible world class facilities. This project is promoted by Hindustan Construction Company(HCC) group with other Pune based builders Avantha Group and Venkateshwara Hatcheries. Cost of whole project can be approximated about 2,153 crores.
Now, Environmental ministries has given show cause notice for violation of environmental laws. Ministry has asked to provide all details about the project. In 2002, Project got NOC certificate for It is said that 600 hectares of land bought from farmers owing price payable to Maharashtra Government, but actually only 2 percent of whole price is paid.
