Below Clouds

I walk along this seashore,
on sand widely spread everywhere,
Hungry tides race over it,
To embrace land green.

Lord sun went behind clouds,
He closed eyes in shame.
He raged, torn away pillows
And scattered clouds around earth.

Trails left behind slow tread,
Will disappear next moment.
Wall will between me and world, miracle unfathomable
Will widen every moment.

Skin blisters with cold winds out,
Flowing rushing over waves,
While blood that flows below skin,
With no consent.

I meditate upon your absence,
Your flight, splendid open wings.
Should I long for
you or separation out of this enclosure

Looking at clouded sky, dark abyss.
I demand, question myself-
Which place do I belong?
Where am I going to?

* I wrote these lines, after a Sharon send a pictures of her vacation and  about her walk along Mangalore beach.

Salute to real fighter

This poem is my condolence to Aruna Shanbaug, died 42 years after sexual assault in Mumbai.
http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/19/world/asia/indian-nurse-aruna-shanbaug-dies-42-years-coma-after-rape.html

May her soul find peace, comfort and blissful world!
Only warrior could fight brim battle, heart can live trapped in body bedridden for all full 42 years.
Her world remained inside body of flesh and bones that turned older, worn out in small chamber room of ward number 4, KEM Hospital, Mumbai.
Infinite pain, grief drifted through hospital window days and night, even death crept in shame, cried out aloud, and refused to touch her holy bed.

You -Real Idiot, half headed monster, dirty warm.
Not even monkey could dare to throttle her throat with dog’s chain.
How could you walk free after handicapping, her for rest of her life? That life is worse than staying in jail.
Just an idea left me in fury and fire, fall in deep regret with shaking humane heart.

Those are serving hands of nursing, who repented, protested, kept flame of life alive for decades.
They, one by one, struggled for her smile.
They protested to keep this assault alive, vivid stigma on justice system in this country.
Salute to you nurses, torch bearers of kindness, for your devotion and loyalty toward duty.

What the madness! What a human race!
Even her family turned back to take her in house.
Hospital opened doors for looters, murderer.
The place where wounded are healed, relived, and illnesses are wiped out.

Unfortunately, it’s India, the country where criminals walk free;
corrupts erupt, flaunt, defend, get elected, assault, harass, prey, kill, murder, f**k and s**t.

Journey called life

Long way to go,
Taking one step after other.
The journey with no end,
See beginning and move ahead.

Taking one step after other,
Through foggy clouds.
This beginning and moving ahead
Through torments of world.

Through foggy clouds, mist, and
Pendulum between past and future.
Through torments of world, worldly charms,
I plan to leave behind baggage of past.

Pendulum between past and future,
I see no high five goals.
Plan to leave baggage of past,
Walk forward and just be human.

I see no high goals.
But if just I ensure to
move ahead and upward,
I will reach somewhere in the end.

If I ensure to
reach somewhere in the end.
Through mysterious, labyrinth walks of life
Long way to go.

* I tried to write pantoum, a form of poem, in which second and fourth lines of stanza are repeated as first and third lines of next one.

Everyone can make a difference

Today, I am starting with a story of a little girl and about her courage! Story is from a city in North-West region of Pakistan called Swat Valley. The area is still under partial control of Taliban. Society there always lives under threat of bloodshed and murder. You are not supposed to walk openly in market, because pressure is mounted in your head; terrorist may appear any moment and will shoot you. Bomb blasts are as frequent as we get SMS. Pakistan military is struggling in peace keeping actions and eliminating insurgent activities. Taliban wanted to rule in that area, wanted to see people under threat. That’s all! Their Best strategy is to stop education and schools providing education. So, that they can dictate them on their orders. Especially, Girls are absolutely not allowed to go to school. It’s a fatwa. They think, “Women deprived of education, unable to read and write will live in kitchen. They will cook, sweep and wash. And finally can be easily abused in night. It’s dream of Taliban.

It was a month of October 2012, Taliban shook the city with couple of major bomb blasts. War broke out. People were scared to send their kids to school. Here comes a courageous girl on day of 8, October, 2014. With her desire to learn, She is determined that she will go to school. She walks out of house early morning. She is not in uniform to disguise her from being student. She was on her way to school, and two terrorists with half masked faces, fired twice towards her. One bullet went straight through left side of her head, passed besides the brain and came out of eardrum. Girl just bowed down her head, not realizing she has been shot. She then collapsed with head and body swelling. She was moved quickly towards hospital. She was going to die. She remained in coma few days. Doctors surprised saying, “How did she survive. Insha Allah, its miracle! She has courageous heart.” She said, “I don’t want fancy classroom, university. I want education wherever possible even under the tree!” This girl called Malala Yusufazai has made revolution. She is now speaking for 31 million girls around world for their basic right of education.
So, Coming back in India, even though there is no terrorism here, many hurdles and problems have sapped literacy rate. India’s economy is growing- rich and prosperous. Every day, we are looking at new constructions, flyovers, skyrocketing building, and inflation that results in growing prices of food products. People at below poverty line cannot afford for anything more than food. So, there is no question of education.

You might have experienced this many times. You are driving a car. On signals, you see children with torn clothe, or half naked tapping window pane to sell handicrafts. They will even wipe your window glass for few pennies. Such children are everywhere in all cities. Cheap labor is growing. Poverty is reason. Children in very young age join workforce to earn bread and butter and make a living. Low level workers are giving birth children just as to get help in their daily work.
According to 2011 census, 18% males and 35% female population is still illiterate. Economist did survey of rural areas in India, half of 10 year old children in rural India cannot read at basic level. 9.6 million Children don’t go to schools. Out of 100 children, 15 never attended schools. Those who attended, half of those will be dropped out after 10th. To change the grim picture is challenge in front of all of us.

Mandela said, “Education is the most powerful weapon you can use to change the world”. Now time has come. We are just by chance are well educated. We can make a difference by helping our fellow Indians to see better future. They also have dream and ambitions. If vehicle has stopped working with lack of fuel; we can add some and make it run.

We have got an opportunity while working here to make a difference.  Asha Deep Foundation is providing employability skills to young underprivileged people living in most parts of Pune. Similar program is successfully running in Noida and Chennai. Through this Programme nearly 700+ young children from under-privileged backgrounds have been trained in computer skills and spoken English. And 60% of them have got jobs. It is said, “If you give one a fish, you save him for a day; if you tell how to fish, you save his life.” This is dictum Asha Deep is following.

I have visited school once. Children are so hungry to learn. I haven’t seen such picture before. It’s really energizing and vibrant picture. Their eagerness to learn will motivate you. All of us can join this program and spend half a day to teach at YEP center. I would strongly urge you to spread message among your colleagues as well !

Thanks You !

Jonathan Livingstone Seagull

Jonathan Livingston Seagull‘,  a story for people who follow their dreams and make their own rules; a story that has inspired people for decades. This inspirational story written by Richard Bach.

I have read this book couple times, rambling over the beautiful words and clear pictures about the sea shore and sky. It is the story of freedom, preseverance, courage, altruism, Love, dreams, and giving back to society. It is about finding your true nature. Seagull bird took flight in the sky, he tried to break his own boundaries and limits. He understood his own self. If you may be anywhere, but TRUE LOVE goes beyond the boundaries of time and space. I tried to write abridged summary, which will become handy to any one.

PART I:

Along the line of sea shore, Jonathan Living stone seagull, stretched his body, flapped his feathers and slowly lifted his body in the air. He relieved. He tried once, streamlined his flight in circle. He loved floating in the air. His mother worried looking at this experiment.  Mother shouted looking at him, “Get down! Seagull, never fly in like this! If you were bird of bones and feathers. This act is against our tribe of seagull.” Seagull was warned by her mother, Mother has warned him not to dive deep into the sky. But, Jon wanted to his own adventure, he wanted to test his courage and power. Jon didn’t listened to caring words of mother. He went against the tribe, culture and tradition, took many long dives into the sky, went far away from its group. After few minutes, He thrashed with exhaustion on the rock. This happened many times, but within few times, regained his vitality, again did the same  trial.

This news reached his community, at the end of day, he was brought back to the council  of his group and asked to stand with shame. Seagull stood there with shame for irresponsibility, violating the dignity of the Gull family. Jon refused to be along with group. So, He was being banished from his society.  He didn’t feared so stay solitary life for the sake of his heart and dream. He was told, “You shall learn that irresponsibility does not pay. Life is unknown and the unknowable, except that we are put into this world to eat, to stay alive as long as we possibly can.” Seagull listened all and answered with courage, “Irresponsibly? My brothers! Who is more responsible than a gull who finds and follows a meaning, a higher purpose for life? For a thousand years we have scrabbled after fish, but now we have a reason t live- to learn, to discover, to be free ! Give me once change, let me show you what I’ve found…” Seagull is extradited from the community. Seagull spent rest of his life alone. He was not confused, but firm of knowledge that brothers didn’t acknowledge the glory of this flight, because they are blind.

Seagull learnt new techniques every day, he learnt to overcome dangers during the flight. He got refrained from all sybarite fish food easily available at the shore. He learnt to relax in the sky. He learnt the summer and winter in the life. He achieved the meaning to his life ‘If life is very short, should be lived fullest.

PART II:

When Seagull landed on the Earth, body and feathers were glowing like silver in the sunshine. Once again, Seagull took off his flight. He was flying with much higher speed than last one. He crossed many clouds within fractions of seconds. It was the highest possible speed for him. He went high into the sky and released body floating along the horizons. He looked down few small seagulls were flocked along the shore. The group welcomed him, as he landed over the rocks along the beach. He stretched his feathers flapped to relax.  Gull found beautiful, magnificent control over his body. ‘Most important thing in life is to reach out and touch the perfection in that which they most loved to do.’

Sullivian, the instructor spoke to him,’ You are pretty well, one-in-million birds. We went from one world into another that we liked, forgot where we had come from and where we are headed to, living every moment. Purpose in life is to find the perfection, every day. Instructor and Gull again took a test flight, looped around the cloud.

After few days, He taught other little gull Chiag how to fly. A month went by. Seagull felt himself more powerful, fun loving, he started learning with tremendous speed.  He was striving to understand the more of vivid principle of life. He heard a voice from his heart, “Jonathan, Keep working on love.” He listened his own heart, turned instructor, changed many lives by teaching them how to fly. Once the time to return back into the sky, Sully utters, “I will miss you if you go.” Gull replied him with reproach, ‘If our friendship depends on space and time, we have lost our friendship here and there.’ Gull and sully has taught many, Seagull found his one brilliant student Fletcher land diving into the sky.

PART III:

Within six time span, he was making many students perfect in flying. He was teaching among the flock at the place, from where he was outcasted long back.

He gave a speech on freedom,’ Now, We are free to go where we wish and to be what we are.’ The social group of gulls couldn’t grapple this principle and turned hostile towards Jonathan. Only, Fletcher understood, ‘We don’t have to obey the law, if we are not part of the flock’ Both Fletcher and Jonathan took a brilliant flight in the sky.  The whole flock of thousands of squawking and fighting gulls watched this flight of liberation. One bird muttered, ‘Find both of them are outcast, but where on the earth did they learnt to fly like that?’

In coming next days, Both Jonathan and Fletcher started teaching a group of birds. Birds were trying hard to move out in the sky, to liberate. Few gulls in flock, harshly criticized both, ’You are DEVIL, Coming to break our group.’ Jonathan came in front of mob and said, ”Why is it so that the hardest thing in the world is to convince a bird that he is free, and that he can prove it for himself if he’d just spend little time practicing? Why should that be so hard? ’ He got convinced.

“Jonathan was outcast many years back from the flock of seagull. But Now, The same gull comes into group and teaches them to fly, to liberate. You trying hard to find them their own self. How Does he manage to love a mob, that tried to kill him?.”

Jonathan watched, Fletcher and a large army of seagulls marching together into the sky. Fletcher is on the front leading. Now, he is no longer common seagull. He was practicing to lead other lives in right direction.

Jonathan disappeared into the sky flying. His race has learnt to fly and liberate with no limits…

Have never ending Optimism

I am on on the way to listen the results after HR interview of Cybage software. I was looking little serious. To refresh my mind one of my friends Garib, told one story…
“Its story about village. After two months of mansoon also, no arrival of rain in that area. Time of cultivation is going ahead. All villager eagerly looking towards clouds in sky for rain. All villagers decided to pray God of rain ‘Varun’. They decided to pray in at the  large ground outside the village, which is situatated bottom of hill. Villagers were having die heart faith on thier god. They expect rain after hymns and prayers of all people. One village, like you want to go for prayer. How does he go….?”
I confused,” How means he’ll go by walk”
Friend answered,” That villager go to hill with umbrella in one hand….”
“Ohh.!! What a positive attitude….”

I was enthralled with optimism…till HR manager of Cybage..Pooja Walia declares the result….
As she come towards group of our people and told the names of people selected and I am selected in Cybage.
